Horseshoe Lake

A 3 acre lake with 30 pegs boasting a maximum depth of 9 feet with widths between 16 and 20 metres stocked with carp from 6oz to double figures, Breamto 6lbs 8oz, Roach 2lbs 8oz, Rudd 2lbs, Crucians 2lbs, Specimen Perch to 3lbs 8oz, Skimmers, Dace, Chub and Tench make up a great venue for the matchman and pleasure angler. The current match record (May 2006) is 162 lbs 8oz with average match weights 45 to 80lbs.

Usual summer baits for carp include pellet, paste and meat, with floating bread and biscuit working well when the conditions are right. Caster fished down the middle takes good mixed bags. Pole fishing is the norm under the near side bushes, down the middle or across to the far bank, but waggler and bomb also work well.
